Hi, I’m Emma.

Ten years ago I embarked upon a journey of healing through the tools of ancestral medicine and wisdom. From yoga trainings, to herbology, to Ayurvedic doula training, to a National medical degree in both Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Finally my work and experience  led me to my calling as a postpartum doula. It is my honor to serve our mothers.

My greatest gift throughout this time was having my son, Milo. When Milo decided to enter the world I felt ready. I had prepared for the birth, taken care of my body, attended hypnobirthing classes, and did many steps to set myself up for success. The difficulty of my postpartum period was not something I had expected. And yet my story is not uncommon - Read my full postpartum story

Birth is a pivotal moment. It’s a life changing passage and unlike many cultures, (as I experienced) mothers in America are left to close this big transition largely on their own and are often underprepared. Tragically, mothers can often feel isolated, forgotten and overwhelmed throughout their postpartum period. Thankfully there is a better way.

Historically the postpartum period was a community supported experience, which created much lower rates of postpartum depression and anxiety, baby feeding issues, sleep deprivation,  isolation, pain and autoimmune triggered disease. In ancient Chinese medicine proverb it is even said that how we treat the mother’s energetic and physical body within the first 40 days after birth, predicts her health for the next 40 years. I see this as an unparalleled opportunity in a woman’s life for her to also be mothered.

Mothering our mothers allows for a peaceful closing of the postpartum chapter leading to happier and healthier caregivers and babies. This  is a time honored tradition and the inspiration behind the holistic birthing of the Mother Medicine.
